Description:

Africans arrived in the low country with the Spanish in 1526 and became the majority of the low country population for more than 2 centuries. Imported Africans and their descendants were critical to the development of the low country society and economy. They also played a critical role in the Revolutionary War. This class will be a discussion of African life and activity from the time of arrival until the formation of the new nation.

Dr. Hollis presented this class in March and because of its popularity, we are presenting another session. Handouts from the original session are available will be made available to anyone registering for this new session.
