This is a Semiquincentennial presentation. Creating a community on the Southern boundary of the American Colonies became a necessity for survival, and it became a source of conflict between remote government authority and the needs of enterprising settlers in the lands south of Charles Town. Learn how Hilton Head Island was a microcosm of this regional strife well before the drums of revolution began to beat.
