4. Elliott. Myrtle Bank, also known as The Point

5. Ficklings: Possum Point, Shipyard

6. Gardner: Gardner's

7. Graham: Honey Horn

8. Jenkins: Jenkin's Island

9. Kirk: Cherry Hill

10. Lawton: Caligogue

11. Matthews: Sand Hill, Folly Field

12. Popes: Cotton Hope, Coggins Point, Point Comfort, Leamington, Piney Woods (Pineland)

13. Seabrook: Seabrook's

14. Scott: Grasslawn

15. Stoneys: Fairfield, Shipyard or Brickyard, Otter Hole, Honey Horn

16. Stuart: Stuart, Otter Hole or Otter Hall

17. Wills or Wells: Possibly earlier owners of Possum Point

Plantations in 1863

A notice in The New South on November 6, 1863 announced the sale of these plantations at auction for failure of the owners to pay the direct tax authorized by Congress. While the names are slightly different the list basically coincides with the above list of plantations.
